The Organic Centre
The Organic Centre is a charity & social enterprise that works hard to increase knowledge, and awareness about organic growing, biodiversity, climate change, food sovereignty and sustainable energy. We operate from a community-based model that works with people; we promote inclusion and work for the common good, as well as education, we are a wonderful tourist venue, and we also work with our partners to address climate change.
Current activities include provision of a Full-Time QQI level 5 course, delivery of over 80 weekend workshops, community gardens project, mums and toddlers project, therapeutic horticulture workshops, work with local communities and community groups, tours and workshops in our gardens, and delivery of science and environmental workshops in schools across the North West of Ireland.
We are a volunteering destination and offer short and long term volunteer work/placements in our gardens, shop, offices and at our events. We welcome students who want to undertake work experience and school/college placements.
We are a membership organisation and support individuals, families and communities to learn more and get involved in environmental issues.
We deliver environmental workshops in schools, business and community organisations, and we can help you develop workplace policies, community gardens and growing projects. We are registered with Science Foundation Ireland as a Science Discovery Centre; we are the perfect venue for your event/conference and we are also registered for civil wedding ceremonies.
Our busy team, works all year round to grow organic produce for markets, cafes/restaurants and shops, and our onsite shop sells a huge range of organic seeds, plants, fertilisers and composts. As well as garden products we also sell organic food and operate a small Zero-waste shop.
We are a not-for-profit company, so any money you spend or donate goes right back into running the organisation and developing its vital work.
