Seasonal Cooking and Foraging with Thien Laitenberger; Saturday March 1st 10-4pm
Join young food sensation Thien Laitenberger in a hands-on cookery course for those passionate about growing and foraging their own food. He will begin the day by harvesting fresh, seasonal ingredients - some from the Organic Centres garden, other ingredients foraged in the grounds like wild garlic and nettles - then create a variety of dishes, including pestos and soup and cake, celebrating nature’s bounty.
The course suits teenagers or would be an ideal day away for a parent and teen. Partcipants will learn exciting techniques and a number of recipes from scratch to take away and use again and again. Learners will find out where their ingredients are sourced from in a truely unique farm to fork experience in the Organic Centre.
Course description:
Thien will take you on a guided walk through the Organic Centres garden, exploring the plants and herbs that are in season. During this "hungry gap" period, when fresh produce is limited, he'll focus on harvesting seasonal vegetables and foraging for wild herbs that are abundant in nature.
By the end of the course, young participants will have learned practical skills in seasonal cooking, foraging, and crafting delicious dishes from the garden’s offerings.
Please note Klaus Laitenberger is on the same day at the centre for an opportuniy for a perfect family trip away!
